Sometimes you just want to go out and have fun, right? This has been true for…forever, and over the last century, we’ve gone to the theater and the cinema to satisfy that urge. And as this charming show proves, fun is still available in abundance at the theater. A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine is actually two shows in one. Act One is a rollicking musical review that celebrates the bygone movie era when Fred Astaire and Irving Berlin reigned. It’s jam-packed with music written for this show, as well as some old standards from the movies. Act Two is a comedy that owes a large, huge, enormous debt to the Marx Brothers. Because, in fact, it’s a farce styled after and starring characters right out of a Marx Brothers movie. This is a Night – and a Day – to just have fun.

The cast for the show includes: Catherine Lee Christie (Arlington), John Crampton (Dedham), Allan Hunter (Watertown), Cara Lechleiter (Westborough), Robert Mattson (Upton), Jacey Rutledge (Arlington), Andrew Swansburg (Groton), Lisa Tierney (Natick).

The historic Beatrice Herford’s Vokes Theatre in Wayland is one of the truly unique cultural and historical resources in Metrowest.  The Vokes Players is a non-profit theatrical organization. A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine is the first production of our 2018-19 season.  The theatre is wheelchair accessible.  For more information about the Vokes Players, visit our website –
