ABOUT PEARL MCCARTHY

Pearl McCarthy attended Massachusetts College of Art and Design intending to major in fashion design. During that time, she worked with Alfred Fiandaca on Newbury Street helping to put finishing touches on gowns for clients such as Grace Jones and Nancy Reagan.

Despite her early success in the world of fashion, McCarthy felt herself drawn to painting. She switched majors and graduated with a degree in painting as well as her teaching certification.

McCarthy’s medium of choice is oil on linen, and she is inspired by John Singer Sargent, William Adolph Bouguereau and Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida. Her work is realistic and focuses on capturing a likeness of the subject while adding softness and tranquility. McCarthy has won dozens of awards for her paintings, which are featured in private collections across the country.

Pearl has studied with Casey Baugh, Nadia Mahfuz, Michelle Dunaway, and Jack Keledjian.
